Dan Swift serves as a Managing Director for 1stWEST Mergers & Acquisitions. Mr. Swift is a widely admired business executive, with unrivaled experience in the building materials and security industries.
Before joining 1stWEST, Mr. Swift’s career spanned three+ decades marked by significant achievements and successful ventures, including Mr. Swift’s 25-year ownership of Strauss Security Solutions and Strauss Lock Distributors, the leading national distributor of Schlage residential door hardware. In 2017, Mr. Swift opted to sell his companies, and Strauss Lock Distributors was acquired by High Road Capital Partners, a private equity firm. He became a shareholder in the new entity, branded as Banner Solutions, now a prominent player in the security and building materials sectors.
Mr. Swift’s strategic vision and leadership played a central role in Banner Solutions acquiring additional companies, before Banner Solutions was successfully sold to another private equity group. During Mr. Swift’s tenure with these private-equity-backed platforms, he served as President of the Residential Division, Chief Sales Officer, and Chief Business Development Officer. During that time, Mr. Swift advised on numerous acquisitions, helping Banner Solutions quickly scale to a quarter billion dollars in annual revenues.
As a Managing Director at 1stWEST, Mr. Swift continues to leverage his vast industry experience and strategic acumen, assisting clients to achieve their business and valuation objectives, while helping them navigate complex transactions. Dan enjoys playing golf and following his favorite sports teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Cubs. With three adult children, Dan balances his professional and personal life between Des Moines, Iowa, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
