James S. Chamness is a Managing Director for 1stWEST Mergers & Acquisitions and the Managing Partner of 1stWEST Fusões & Aquisições, the Company’s Brazilian subsidiary. Jim relocated to Brazil in 2011 to deliver 1stWEST’s global reach and world-class resources to local business owners. Leveraging industry-specific experience he guides clients though all phases of the sell-side and buy-side transaction process. Prior to joining 1stWEST Jim worked for over 30 years in the environmental consulting and AEC sectors in the US and internationally. He has successfully established and led US and international consulting organizations, for major firms such as RUST Environment & Infrastructure, where he managed the Environmental Restoration Practice Group for the Western US, and as an entrepreneur, founding and directing the operations of a boutique consultancy that commercialized profitable opportunities in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela.
As an environmental consultant and engineering geologist Jim’ clients represent diverse industries including oil and gas, biofuels, electric power generation, infrastructure, construction, automotive manufacturing, finance, development, chemicals, pulp and paper, waste management and government entities.
Jim studied Business Administration at the University of Phoenix, Denver, and earned a Bachelor of Science, Earth Sciences, from Northeastern University in Boston.
